Vale of Catmos Takes on Stamford Monopoly (Again)

Members of the Vale of Catmos Lodge headed to Stamford on Saturday 15th August for the return of the Stamford Monopoly Pub Crawl, following the success of the Lodge's first outing last year.

Starting from the Stamford station area, the Brethren made their way towards the town centre, visiting a number of venues throughout the afternoon and taking on various Monopoly-inspired challenges along the way. As well as working their way around Stamford, there were Chance cards and forfeits to contend with, including the now-infamous challenge of drinking from a boot!

Various members also found themselves responsible for carrying some unusual items between venues, including a John Deere toy tractor, the kitty float and a giant toy dice. The choice of tractor even prompted the question of whether this was the country version of Monopoly, although it was quickly clarified that it was apparently the "Rutland version"!

A stop at The Tobie Norris provided an opportunity for lunch and a brief break from the day's challenges before the group continued around Stamford for the rest of the afternoon.

The Monopoly format provided a whole lot of entertainment along the way, with the different challenges, props and forfeits making for a slightly different Lodge social and, judging by the photographs from the day, plenty of memorable moments. Most importantly, everyone made it home safely after another very enjoyable afternoon in Stamford!

Having now done two Stamford Monopoly Pub Crawls, it looks as though this particular social is becoming something of a Vale of Catmos tradition. After another successful afternoon this year, we're sure it won't be the last, and there will no doubt be another trip around the Stamford Monopoly board to look forward to next year!

Thank you to everyone involved in organising the day and to all those who came along and took part.
